The memorial of the departed leader exists in 12.19 acres. The Central spot of
the memorial is the place where Rajiv Gandhi laid down his life. In a square
platform of 40’x40’ size, a raised platform of 21’ diameter has been
constructed, finished with Jaisalmer yellow marble flooring inlaid with while
marble depicting scattered flowers. The portrait of Rajiv Gandhi, created by
fine marble inlay work, is embedded in a pink granite stone block which has
been erected on this circular platform.
The central feature is circumscribed by seven massive granite pillars of 1.2
meter diameter, 15 meter high, having bronze capital on top, each weighing
approx. 1.5 tonnes. These pillars represent seven concepts namely, Dharma,
Satya, Nyaya, Vigyan, Tyaga, Shanti and Smiridhi. These pillars also represent
seven sacred rivers of our country, viz. Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Brahamputra,
Narmada, Sindhu & Kaveri. Various quotations of Rajiv Gandhi have been
carved at the base of each pillar depicting Secularism, Truth, Social Justice,
Modernization, Freedom Movement, World Peace and Progress and Development. Each
pillar has different carving patterns and unique capitol design symbolizing
each concept.

The Irungattukottai race track, which is the first of its kind in India was
inaugurated in 1990. On 8th February 1998, for the first time in India,
Irungattukottai witnessed Formula Campus cars in action. Sixteen single-seater
cars, using 1350cc Renault engines with a five-speed gearbox, built by the
Frenchman Claude Fior were raced on that day.
Sriperumpudur is strategically placed on the Chennai-Bangalore highway, just
about 40 kilometers from the main city, and offers all that the international
giants want to get their business running in the country. Industrial
infrastructure facilities are being constructed while the companies are in the
process of setting up their units.
Though industrial activity has commenced in these regions, significant
residential activity is yet to initiate. Large developers have started
consolidating land in the subject location in order to cater to the primary
housing demand that is envisaged to accrue in the subject location. However,
there is extensive activity of plotted layout developments in this corridor.
Cummalative supply of over 5000 units has been witnessed in the subject
location. A large number of educational institutions (primarily engineering
colleges) are also present on this corridor.
